Edgar LE GOVIC is a 26-year-old artist living and working between Paris and Brittany, a territory that deeply nourishes his visual universe. His work explores the encounter between the human figure and vegetation. Through a pared-down visual language built on silhouettes, contrasts, and texture, he develops compositions situated between figuration and abstraction. Initially trained in wood sculpture, he approaches creation through volume, material, and organic structures. This sculptural foundation continues to shape his practice today and naturally extends into textile through jacquard tapestries woven from recycled cotton.
Working from photographs and drawings, he creates monumental works in which the human figure is reduced to its essential forms. His first textile series brings together six monumental tapestries — each measuring 160 × 120 cm and requiring nearly 24 kilometres of thread.
